Great Lakes Distillery to release first batch of bourbon

The first bourbon whiskey produced in Wisconsin since Prohibition will soon be available from Milwaukee-based Great Lakes Distillery.

Great Lakes plans to sell the bourbon at a release party on Saturday, March 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the distillery announced Friday. The party, at the distillery, 616 W. Virginia St., will include bourbon cocktails made from the Great Lakes' test batch. Bottled bourbon will be available at the party until the batch is sold out.

Great Lakes says it will be the first bourbon whiskey made in Wisconsin since Prohibition, and might be the first ever Badger State bourbon.
