Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration ticket packages will go on sale August 15, 2007. Advanced ticket sales to H.O.G. members will take place August 1-15, 2007. The 105th Anniversary Celebration ticket package includes a signature 105th folio, laminated event ticket good for two-day entry to the Summerfest grounds and a one-time entry to the Discovery World Museum and special Harley-Davidson exhibit, event guide, Signature 105th Anniversary copper wristband, 105th Anniversary flag and American flag.

Sunday Sound-off: Who should play at Harley's 105th party?



Next summer, Harley-Davidson, Inc. celebrates 105 years in business and will once again throw a huge bash in Milwaukee, complete with a couple of big concerts. Hopefully, this time officials will pick musical acts that appeal to Harley lovers more than Elton John, who headlined the 100th anniversary party in 2003 for a less-than-enthused audience.

In his recent OnMilwaukee.com blog, Steve Jagler suggested the following musicians and groups as possible choices: Bob Seger, Steppenwolf, Ted Nugent, George Thorogood, Golden Earring, the Charlie Daniels Band, Littlefeat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Outlaws, Bad Company, the Doobie Brothers, Humble Pie, the Byrds, REO Speedwagon, Nazareth, Foreigner, Great White and Sammy Hagar. Oh, and let's not orget ZZ Top.

But who do you think should gig at the Harley-Davidson 105th anniversary party? Does anyone on this list appeal to you, or do you think they should bag the classic rockers and hire more contemporary acts?

Harley riders want classic rock entertainment, so give 'em classic rock entertainment. The average age of Harley riders has gotten older in the last 10 years, with many riders in their late 40s and 50s. This age group grew up on bands that are now "classic rock" acts and would enjoy these bands more than something hipper and newer.

Bring on something fresher! These moldy oldie bands are fine for a Summerfest side stage or smaller venue, but the 105th anniversary party is a prestigious, high profile gig that deserves a great band that has passed the test of time and continues to make new music while still appealing to the Harley crowd.

Definately Rolling Stones. No other major band out there has the relationship and respect from the die hard biker community.  Toss ZZ Top and ACDC as 2nd tier acts for the nite.

hey, I'd have no issues with that for nostalgia effect.  ask yer parents who they think should play, and I'm sure most everyones will mention The Rolling Stones and how upset they were that Harley had Elton John play at the 100th instead of them.

Springsteen to play Harley 105th

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform for Harley-Davidson's 105th anniversary celebration, company officials announced this morning.

The show will take place Sat. Aug 30 at the same lakefront site where Elton John played to mark Harley's 100th birthday bash.

Tickets will be $40, but to buy one, you must also have a ticket for Harley's 2-day anniversary event at the Summerfest grounds, Aug. 29 and 30th. Those tickets are $60.

Some of the acts playing for the rest of the Harley party include Los Lonely Boys, Black Crowes, ZZ Top, Daughtry, Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy and others.

The list includes the Black Crowes, Daughtry, Los Lonely Boys, ZZ Top, Foghat, Dierks Bentley, War, Puddle of Mud, Buddy Guy, Dr. John and Blue Oyster Cult.

Bob Klein, a spokesman for the Milwaukee-based motorcycle-maker, described it as "the music event of 2008."

The editor of Pollstar magazine suggested that Bonnaroo, Coachella and a few other big festivals might quibble with that assessment, but Gary Bongiovanni did express admiration for the lineup.

"It sounds like a great event for the folks in Milwaukee, as if Summerfest wasn't enough," Bongiovanni said.

All but Springsteen will play on the stages at the Henry W. Maier Festival Grounds, as part of the two-day festival. The Boss will play in Veterans Park, in a venue being called the Roadhouse at the Lakefront.

Tickets for the anniversary celebration are selling for $65, including taxes and fees, and are available through www.harley-davidson .com/105th.

Separate Springsteen tickets will go on sale April 5, at a price of $42.50, including fees. Only people who buy the two-day festival pass will be eligible to buy the Springsteen tickets, putting the total cost of seeing the Boss on the lakefront at $107.50.

That's comparable to his average concert price and Springsteen's show at the Bradley Center on March 17: $65 and $95, plus fees.
