12/20 - 5 Card Studs Holiday Extravaganza, Joe Hite

Holding the title of 'the hardest working lounge band in the Midwest' is no easy task...unless you are the 5 Card Studs. Many things can be said about the 5 Card Studs - that they 'spread their aural pleasure like jelly all over your biscuits', they aim to 'have a good time - ALL THE TIME', that when they perform it's an experience that is 'so big it's ALIVE!'. One thing is certain, though. The 5 Card Studs aren't so much a cover band as much as they are an entertainment experience.

Formed in 1995 for a one-off New Years Eve show, the five 'studs' - Mr. Reno Nevada (bass/vocals), Mr. Blake 'the Lake' Tahoe (guitar/vocals), Mr. Les Vegas (keys/vocals), Mr. Asti Spumanti (drums/charm) and Mr. Cesar Palace (vocals/moxie/chutzpah) - decided that it was simply too much fun to put down. 11 years and hundreds of shows later, the 5 Card Studs show absolutely no signs of slowing down.

The 5 Card Studs live show is a unique blend of big-time Las Vegas attitude and '70's TV game show schmaltz, all glossed over with a 'washed-up lounge/wedding singer' veneer. It may sound like a strange brew at first, but it's a winning combination that truly works, whether it's at a wedding, corporate event, in front of a few thousand people at a summer festival or a few hundred in an intimate lounge.

Musically their performances feature many recognizable '60's and '70's 'AM Gold' classics - hits from artists such as Neil Diamond, Engelbert Humperdink, Tom Jones, Santana; soul classics from Al Green, Smokey Robinson, The Spinners, Wilson Pickett; one-hit wonders like 'Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)', 'Hooked On A Feeling', 'Green Eyed Lady', 'Hot Child In The City', 'The Love Boat'; disco hits by the Bee Gees, The Ohio Players, ELO...the list is almost too huge to mention. All of this is delivered by the expert musicianship of the five seasoned veterans in the 5 Card Studs, making for an unforgettable experience in entertainment. [8pm $8]
